Shirlea North, PT, DPT, GCS, CLT earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Marymount University in 2011 after graduating from Franciscan University in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology. She has a passion for treating those with neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis and has been LSVT BIG certified since 2012 and a PWR!Move Certified Physical Therapist since 2021. Shirlea enjoys educating physical therapy students from local universities and has been a certified clinical instructor (CI) since 2012, and holds an active Direct Access certification. She has been an active member of both professional associations, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA) since 2011. Shirlea earned her Geriatric Clinical Specialist (GCS) degree in 2014 to better serve the continuum care population. She has recently trained in the Meeks Method for postural correction and has extensive education in treatment for vestibular and balance dysfunction. To complete her unique interest within the lymphatic conditions, she earned her Certified Lymphedema Therapist certification and has completed several continuing education in treatment for pelvic floor dysfunctions for all sexual and gender identifications. Shirlea utilizes her extensive and well-rounded knowledge to be an advocate for her clients not only for the immediate rehabilitative need but also for their optimal wellness.
