About Katherine

Katherine Kavanagh, PT, DPT, and Director of Results Physical Therapy in Gainsville and Fairfax, Virginia, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University in 2001 and then received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Marymount University. She also is a graduate of the Lake Tahoe Massage Therapy School in 2004. 

Katherine has a strong interest in working with both adolescent and adult orthopedic populations where she utilizes a variety of manual therapy techniques, including trigger point dry needling in conjunction with neuromuscular re-education to obtain positive results.  She has particularly strong experience in the treatment of the cervical/thoracic spine and hip joint.  Katherine has been working with pre and post hip preservation surgery patients for many years and she has focused her continuing education studies in those areas.  Katherine takes an individualized approach to each patient case by designing a program that combines manual therapy and functional movement, with the goal of teaching patients how to optimize their own independence.
